Proud to be a 'Fittie loon', Edi attended the Central School and then Gray's School of Art where he gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Design. In 1956, whilst still a student, he began his association with His Majesty's Theatre as a scenic artist with the Whatmore Players and continued to work as a designer and artist at all the theatrical venues in the city throughout his teaching career at Peterhead and Turriff and while he was Principal Teacher of Art at Ellon Academy.
In 1979, he retired from his final teaching job - Assistant Rector at Ellon Academy - to become the first Technical Director at His Majesty's, a post he held until his retiral in 1993. His affection for theatres, theatrical stories and personalities is well known to his family and friends and their support provided him with the driving force to write this book.
Still active with a pencil, brush and paper and occasionally designing for local stage productions, Edi is honoured to be a trustee for both The David Gordon Memorial Trust and The Tivoli Trust.
