Started in 1940 and alternating bi-annually, The Broons Annual and the Oor Wullie Annual have always been the 'must-have' Christmas gift for Scots or folk with a Scottish connection. However no Broons Annual was issued in 1944 or 1946 due to paper shortages because of the war, and the jigsaws were released instead.

Now highly collectible, 'The Living Room' jigsaw - a picture of the Broon family at home at No. 10 Glebe Street - replace the 1944 Broons Annual and was released in the autumn of 1943.

This near facsimile is to be released in time for Christmas 2012 and will be available through 2013, the 70th anniversary of the release of the original jigsaw.

This 400 piece jigsaw measures 19x13 3/8 ins (482 x 340 mm) when completed. The Broons were launched in 1936 in The Sunday Post in Scotland and are still going strong. They are undoubtedly Scotland's 'First Family' and the 'Nation's Favourites', with a readership covering all generations.
