As of 31 October 2019, we will no longer accept submissions of unsolicited fiction manuscripts online.
We will re-open for submissions at specific intervals throughout the year. The dates of these submissions ‘windows’ and the types of material we are looking for will be announced on Twitter and Facebook, as well as on this page.
For non-fiction submissions, we currently accept one-page proposals. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org. It is vital that you use the guidance below on suitable genres of work, please. Titles outwith these areas will not be considered.
We are pleased to receive proposals for the following genres of non-fiction:
- celebrity memoirs
- sports books (with a particular focus on the UK and Ireland)
- lifestyle, humour, gift and activity books
- food and drink titles
- Scottish non-fiction
- Irish non-fiction
- nature and wild places
Please note: we do not publish work written in languages other than English.
In your proposal, please include information about yourself and your background, and a summary of what your proposed book will cover. Please keep this to one side of A4. We will contact you if we would like to explore your proposal further.
All submissions to Black & White Publishing are confidential. We assess all new submissions, but cannot give individual feedback or editorial guidance on proposals not suitable for our list. We will let you know within six months if we would like to consider your proposal for publication. If you don’t hear from us in this time, then we are sorry, but it’s a ‘no’ from us on this occasion. Please note: owing to the volume of submissions received, we are not always able to acknowledge receipt.
Please do not send any proposals to us by post, as we will not consider these and can’t return original material.
We are still accepting fiction or non-fiction submissions from literary agents. Please email as usual or contact email@example.com.
