Imagine you had the power to take away sadness, anxiety, heartache, fear and turn them into something beautiful. Imagine how valuable you would be to others . . .
Lynx is a grief nurse; kept by the wealthy and influential Aster family to ensure they’re never troubled by negative emotions. Limited to the plush rooms and the elegant grounds of their Scottish island manor house, she knows no other life.
But when the Asters’ eldest son dies and guests flock to the wake, they bring secrets, lies and misery. As tensions rise, the island soon becomes a vortex of jealousy and suspicion – with Lynx trapped at the centre of a family tearing itself apart.
Set in a subtly reimagined 1920s Scotland, this is a spectacular gothic world filled with intrigue, tragedy and spellbinding romance.
