A 3-time All-Ireland and 5-time All Star winner, SEÁN CAVANAGH is of one of Gaelic football’s era-defining players.

“This obsession of mine has brought both joy and torment. But if you were to hand me back time, I would say 99 per cent of what I did, I would do all over again.”

Since he first ran out onto the pitch at the age of 19, Seán’s relentless train-play-sleep-repeat fed an insatiable quest for perfection and made him a permanent fixture in the Tyrone team. His uncompromising style led to glory, but his obsession took its toll on body and mind, and on those around him.

Here is Seán’s no-holds-barred account of his fearless drive to dominate his sport. He takes us behind the scenes of the GAA: the controversies with manager Mickey Harte, the brutal training regimes, the sacrifices and tragedies. He talks of games won – Tyrone’s iconic victory in the 2008 All-Ireland Final, the career-capping 2018 All-Ireland Intermediate Championship win – and of games lost, the players and their rivalries, and of his childhood during the Troubles.

Hard-hitting, provocative and compelling, THE OBSESSION reveals the drive that made Seán Cavanagh a legend of the game and the man he is today.
